OUR STORY
How did Ride the Tide come about?
At Ride the Tide, we are passionate about adventure and wellbeing. As co-founders, we met through our shared love for these two passions. We believe that by combining them, we can help individuals and organisations unleash their full potential.

Jodie: For me, the mission behind Ride the Tide is deeply personal. Like many of us, I've struggled with my mental health at various points in my life. However, I've never let these challenges define me. Instead, I've committed myself to personal growth and developing the resilience to face any obstacle. Through my journey of self-discovery and empowerment, I've found inner strength and confidence. I want to inspire and help others to embrace every aspect of themselves and realise their own potential.
Tom: I've always been passionate about the outdoors and trying new experiences. However, it wasn't until my friends and I experienced heartbreak during our late teens and early 20s, as we lost a number of our mates too young, did I truly realise the fragility of life. Throughout that time, I discovered the amazing power of nature and new experiences to help ease the pressure in one's mental health and the importance of making the most of every day. I'm on a mission to help others discover the transformative power of adventure and the outdoors, and to find the same sense of empowerment and inner strength that I have discovered through my own experiences.

Drawing on our combined experience, Ride the Tide was born as a way to offer individuals and teams a fresh perspective on team building and corporate networking. Our events are designed to empower attendees by challenging them to step outside their comfort zones, try new experiences, and connect with nature. By incorporating wellness practices, we help attendees cultivate a deeper sense of personal growth.
A Little More About...
Our Founders

JODIE PEPPER
Co-Founder, Yoga Instructor & Wellness Specialist
Loves: Travelling, Yoga, Laughing and the Moon

Throughout my university years and travels, I faced some challenges with my mental health. However, with the support of amazing people around me, I found my way back to a positive mindset and was able to explore the world, gaining new perspectives and meeting incredible individuals.

One particular experience stands out to me. After mustering up the courage to fly alone to Perth, I met a group of inspiring young women who taught me a valuable lesson in that strength and vulnerability go hand in hand. That realization, along with some beachside lockdown, morning coffees, deep conversations, and lots of dancing, helped me gain confidence and love myself more than ever before (though I'll admit, this is an ongoing journey!).

Upon returning home, amidst the height of the pandemic, I started a career at PwC and embarked on yet another journey of self-discovery. I turned to books like "5am Club" and "Atomic Habits," inspiring podcasts, and journaling, whilst also making sure to get plenty of fresh air through daily walks.

At PwC, I had some great experiences, met some amazing people, and learned a lot. However, something always felt a bit off. I was always passionate about wellbeing and saw first hand the toll that the corporate world can take on individuals. As a key wellbeing representative for the UK Banking and Capital Markets business stream, I was able to follow my passion whilst making a positive impact. I also won the award for most optimistic, showing my passion for looking at things in a positive light even in challenging times.

Alongside this, I completed a 300-hour yoga teacher training course, which has expanded my knowledge about the benefits of breathwork and movement practices for every aspect of life. We're working to break down the stereotype that yoga is only for middle-aged white women by sharing tools and techniques accessible to everyonethat work with the central nervous system, to find calm and reduce stress in their everyday lives.

My time in the corporate world was great and has give me valuable insight that has led me to where I am today. Due to my keenness in wanting to pursue my passion for wellbeing and help others find balance and happiness in their lives, I took a leap of faith and started Ride the Tide., and I couldn't be happier with where it's taken me.
I'm excited to continue learning and growing and I hope that my story can inspire others to embrace their own journeys of self-discovery.
